Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the sharp rise of water level by discharging the water accumulated between the outer periphery of a runner and a guide vane into a draft tube and lowering the pressures of a back pressure chamber and the side pressure chamber and opening the drain pipe opened to the side pressure chamber after a fixed time.
CONSTITUTION: The water in a casing 1 is introduced into a runner 1 by opening a guide vane 6, and the runner 1 is revolved. When the revolution speed increases and reaches a synchronous speed, a main synchronous motor is connected in parallel to the outside power system, and the pressurized water is cut-off by perfectly closing the guide vane 6. At the same time, compressed air is injected into the runner chamber 1, and the water level in a draft tube 5 is lowered, and idling state is formed. When an electric magnet 17 is energized and the compressed oil 18 is switched to an open side pressurized oil pipe 20 and an automatic value 10 is released, the water gathered in the outer peripheral part of the runner is discharged into the draft tube 5 from a drain pipe 9. Accordingly, the pressure in a back pressure chamber 21 and a side pressure chamber 22 lower. After a fixed time, the automatic valve 8 is opened, and the water gathered in the side pressure chamber 22 is discharged into the draft tube 5.
