Abstract

PURPOSE: To double the life expectancy of trolley wire with improved wear resistance compared with conventional product made of tough pitch copper, by making the wire with copper alloy containing Fe, Zn and Cu at a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A copper alloy containing 0.05W3.5wt% of Fe and 0.1W3.0wt% of Zn is used to produce trolley wire which has advantages of wear-proof against contact with a current collector, good electric conductivity and no softening due to heat generated by contact with a current collector. Dispersion of fine Fe precipitated from the copper alloy can improve its wear and heat resistance. The precipitation of Fe also prevents reduction of conductivity due to an increase in alloy elements.
