Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a compact and efficient power plant, by adding a loop for heating turbine operating medium directly by use of waste heat in a power plant including an intermediate heating medium loop and a turbine operating medium loop.
CONSTITUTION: A portion of turbine operating liquid medium 20 from pump 19 is carried to turbine operating medium heater 26 disposed downstreams of intermediate heating medium heater 8. After medium 20 is evaporated in heater 26, it is mixed with steam supplied from direct heat exchanger 10 and the carried to turbine 12. In this system, if thermal conditions of heating medium 7 are determined, heat is extracted from heater 26 to the power plant in the temperature range lower than an upper limit permitting direct heating of turbine operating medium, depending on the properties of turbine operating medium. On the other hand, in the temperature range higher than the upper limit, heat is exchanged at heat exchanger 8. With such an arrangement, a more compact and efficient power plant can be obtained for a given heat source.
