Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve annealing capacity at excellent heat efficiency, by applying electric current with electrode rollers to steel wire rod while it is delivered thereby heating the wire rod by Joule heat, and after being wound by annealing the wire rod while it is kept hot by its potential heat and is cooled slowly. CONSTITUTION:Steel wire rod 2 contg. <0.55% C is passed a guide roller 3, reforming rollers train 4, where its bend is corrected, then it is passed the inlet side guide roller 5 of a delivering roller 6 and is wound two or three turns by the delivering roller 6. The wire rod 2 is delivered through an outlet side guide roller 7 of the delivering roller 6, inlet side rollers 8 of electrode rollers 9 to the electrode rollers 9, there it is energized by the electrode rollers 9 and is heated to a temp. 700- 800 deg.C by the Joule heat due to the electric resistance of the wire rod 2. The wire rod passes through guide rollers 10, 12, 13 and is wound by a spool 15 at a >=350 deg.C temp. The wire rod is allowed to cool slowly while it is kept hot by its potential heat so as to be annealed, thereby annealing steel wire rod excellent in mechanical properties at excellent thermal efficiency and with a large treating capacity.
