Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce production cost in annealing metallic wire by electric heating while the wire passes plural electrode rings one by one, by installing a preheating zone in the first electrode section, and an annealing zone, a cooling zone, a reheating zone in the second electrode section thereby decreasing the number of electrode rings. CONSTITUTION:Electrical wire 15 to be annealed is allowed to contact through guide rolls 7-11 with three electrodes 3, 4, 5 of a continuous annealing apparatus 1 and is made to advance along the traveling route in order. Annealing voltage is determined so that the wire 15 having passed the preheating zone 6 and arrived at the end of the annealing zone 12 may attain optimum temp. by the adjustment of the voltage of an electric power source 2. The electrical wire 15 is cooled in a cooling pipe 17 of the cooling zone 16 with cooling water, then it is drained of water with an air wiper 19, reheated at the reheating zone 20 to remove water. Varying the wire length of the reheating zone 20 by changing vertically the setting position of the cooling pipe 18 for cooling water allows to vary the reheating temp.
