Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the drawability of a steel sheet, by directly supplying an electric current to a steel sheet passing through a furnace to heat the steel sheet at a high temp. using the steel sheet itself as a heater, and facilitating the grain growth of the steel with use of high-frequency vibrations of slight amplitudes. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip sheet 3 is uncoiled from a feed reel 1, and carried to a recoil reel 2. A couple of electrode rolls 5 are positioned at start and final points which define a predetermined length of the steel sheet 3. The electrode rolls 5 are used as terminals to supply an electric current to the defined part of the steel sheet 3. The defined part of the steel sheet is looped with electrically insulated guide rolls 6, and received in an annealing furnace. The annealing furnace is provided with an electromagnetic device 7 which generates a magnetic flux along a direction falling at right angles with the direction of the electric current flow. Consequently, the steel sheet 3 is heated to a high temp. by itself as a heater. High-frequency vibrations of slight amplitudes are alternatively supplied to the steel sheet by at least one of the steel sheet heating electric current and a magnetic field generating electric current.
