Abstract

PURPOSE: To adjust the flow quantity of a working medium automatically corresponding to the environment of heat pipe use by mixing a hydrated crystalline substance with the working medium which transfers heat being evaporated and condensed in the heat pipe.
CONSTITUTION: With a working medium 4 sealed in a heat pipe 1, a hydrated crystalline substance 5 of a quantity larger than its saturating solubility, for example, barium hydroxide 6 hydrate is mixed. By so composing, the crystals of the hydrated crystalline substance 5 dissolve as the temperature of the mixture rises, and the quantity of water in the working medium 4 increases. When the temperature drops, the hydrated crystalline substance crystallizes and the quantity of water decreases. By so doing, the quantity of the working medium is self-controlled to increase or decrease corresponding to the change of the working environment of the heat pipe 1.
