Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the connection work simple and low-loss, by matching optical axes of strands of two optical fibers by two faces of a V groove and one face of a keep plate to connect two optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber 10 subjected to a prescribed terminal processing is inserted to angular hole 11 with the top and bottom of connection device 1 reversed. An adhesive is injected from the end of angular hole 11 to fix optical fiber 10 to connection device, after insertion. Next, the other optical fiber is inserted and fixed by the same method. After fixing of both ends, a matching agent is injected from matching agent injection inlet 21 to fill the internal space in connection device 1. After that, connection device 1 is returned to the normal state, and screw hole 9 of outside cover 3 is used to stop keep plate 4 with a screw. As a result, optical axes of two strands are matched to each other inevitably with two faces of V groove 14 and one face of keep plate 4, and strands are fixed. Thus, low-loss connection is possible with the simple work.
