Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent intrusion of fine solid particles into a turbine, by forming a fine solid particle separating chamber having an opening at a curved pipe portion.
CONSTITUTION: Steam 12 containing fine solid particles 13 flows from a pipe 9a to a pipe 9b. Since the fine solid particles 13 having a specific gravity much greater than that of steam 12 flows along the outer wall surface of an elbow 10a in passing through the elbow 10a, they are introduced from an opening 21 into a fine solid particle separating chamer 23. Here, since the steam pressure in the elbow 10a and that in chamber 23 are equal to each other, pressure of the steam entering into the chamber 23 is balanced with pressure of the steam entering into the chamber 23 is balanced with pressure of the steam in chamber 23 at the portion near the opening 21, so that vortices are produced at the portion. This generation of vortices serves to prevent backflow of fine solid particles 13 in chamber 23, so that particles 13 can be collected in the chamber 23 effectively.
