Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the operting efficiency of a rotary electric machine by allowing an excessive field current over the maximum allowable field current when it is within a predetermined time even if the field current exceeds the maximum allowable field current responsive to the temperature of the cooling water in the machine. CONSTITUTION:When a deviation signal 7a between the maximum allowable field current signal 14a responsive to the temperature of the cooling water and a field current signal 6a exceeds the allowable deviation value VD, a relay 21 is operated so that its contact 21a is opened. Thus, an integrator 17 will integrate the deviation signal 7a at a time constant responsive to the value of the deviation signal 7a. When the output signal 17a of the integrator 17 exceeds the voltage of the reference signal 23 of the setting unit 23, a relay 16 is operated so that its contact 16a is closed, and the deviation signal 7a is supplied through an amplifier 9 to the automatic voltage controller 3. In this manner, the operating efficiency of the generator 1 can be enhanced.
