Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify software by providing an information processor for pipeline control with a hardward means of detecting a program loop, by forming a closed loop of an instruction queue that corresponds to a stage when the loop is detected, and by executing the program loop by an instruction loop.

CONSTITUTION: Instruction buffer registers 11W14 as an instruction queue consists of instruction code control parts 11aW14a and stage control parts 11bW14b, and information required for pipeline control is held in control parts 116W14b except instruction codes of instruction words. Further, an instruction word is transferred from the position of memory 8 indicated by instruction counter 1 to instruction readout register 9 and information on addresses of an instruction word and branch instruction generated by decoder 10 is applied to register 9, whose output is applied to registers 11W14 to detect a program loop. Then when the loop is detected, registers 1W14 are made into a closed loop and the program loop is executed by execution unit 19 according to the instruction loop, thereby simplifying the software.
