Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform welding continuously in a stable state without dropping welding rods on the welding base metals by welding the successively supplied welding rods at the end part at the time of performing welding by the use of the welding rods which cannot be coiled.
CONSTITUTION: Welding rods 30A, 30B having notches 60 at the end parts are put into a guide 62 of a U-shaped section and while the leading end of the rear welding rod 30B is being abutted on the trailing end face of the welding rod 30A by the force of a spring 24, the welding rods are let off and welding is performed. In this case, a limit switch 66 for detecting the contact part of both welding rods 30A and 30B is provided and nonconsumable electrode type welding torches 72A, 72B for welding the welding rods are installed in the notch 70 of the guide 62. The welding rod 30A advances by being consumed and its contact part with the welding rod 30B is detected with the detector 66 and when an operating arm 68 is lowered by the notch 60, the power is supplied to welding electric sources 76A, 76B so that the arc is generated between the torches 72A and 72B, whereby the trailing end of the welding rod 30A and the leading end of 30B is welded to one piece. Hence, there is no trouble of the welding rods becoming short and dropping and the welding may be performed stably.
