CONSTITUTION:A selection switch 204 is changed over to an electric discharging high voltage power source to limit the power source of a torch 109 so as to permit the flow of only the small current. A current sensor 207 detects the discharge that occurs when the electrode of the torch 109 and the work W approach and loads the position information of the weld point WP of the weld line WL into a controlling box 400. The torch 109 is controlled in accordance with the position information of the point WP of the work W on the line WL.
