Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of spatters on base metals and a welding machine in a short circuit transfer welding machine by detecting the voltage between the welding base metals and a wire electrode and controlling the conducting and stopping of welding current in accordance with the detected value thereof. CONSTITUTION:While a DC power source 1 and an auxiliary power source 5 are held turned on, the leading end of a wire electrode 7a is short-circuited to base metals 10. The voltage of this time is detected with a voltage detector 15, and an on-command signal is emitted to a switch command circuit 12 by the 1st decision device 16, following to which a trigger signal is transmitted from the circuit 12 to close a switching element 2, whereby welding current is flowed from the power source 1. The electrode 7a is burned off by this current and an arc is generated. The detected voltage of the detector 15 rises from the short circuit voltage to the arc voltage, and the 2nd decision device 17 operates, thence a timer 18 starts operating. Upon lapse of the prescribed delay time, an off-command signal is fed to the circuit 12, by which the element 2 is opened to attenuate the current and to supply only the current from the power source 5. By repeating these, the stable welding state is maintained ant the production of spatters is eliminated.
