Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately perform the forecast-control of the roll gap of the edging roll of the rolling mill, by actually measuring the temperature of both edges of the rolled material on the feed-in side, and by arithmetically forecasting the dog bone recovery rate and the spread factor.
CONSTITUTION: The temperature of the rolled material P at the points of a specified distance from the side edges are measured by the thermometers 31 installed on the run-out side of the first stand. The thickness and breadth on the run-out side of the first stand are arithmetically operated, and these velues are inputted to the computer 4 which then computes the spread obtained by the rolling work of the horizontal roll of the second stand. Meanwhile, the computer 5 computes the dog bone recovery rate by the rolling work of the horizontal roll of the second stand. These two values are inputted to the computer 6 which then computes the roll gap of the edging roll of the second stand. This value of the roll gap is set in the edging roll gap control unit 8.
