PURPOSE:To effectively contrive the improvement of accuracy of the product thickness, by installing the billet temperature measuring instrument and the induction heating unit at specified positions in the hot rolling line, and by reheating the billet by the electric induction to the aim temperature. CONSTITUTION:The rough rolled billet 1, running out of the roughing mill 3, passes the billet temperature measuring instrument 5 before entering the first stand of the finishing mill 4; hereby, the billet surface temperature T is continuously measured by the instrument 5. The electric power supply arithmetic unit 7, receiving the measured surface temperature T from the instrument 5, and the data for the billet on the feeding side of the first stand of the finishing mill 4 like as the aim heating temperature To, the billet thickness (t), the rolling speed (v), etc., set in and sent from the billet rolling condition setting console 8, operates the set point P for the electric power output of the induction heating electric power source 6. Depending on thus operated set point P, the induction heating electric power source 6 supplies the electric power to the induction heating coil 2; hereby, the billet temperature on the feed-in side of the finishing mill 4 is controlled to the aimed temperature T0.
