Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a good shape regardless of the longitudinal temperature distribution of a material to be rolled, by forecasting the longitudinal temperature distribution, by longitudinally changing the rolling reduction of a preceding pass, and by holding constant the rolling load along the longitude at a succeeding rolling pass.
CONSTITUTION: Such rolling information as slab size, product size, rolling pass starting temperature, and the kind of steel, are set at an initial condition setter 30; an arithmetic unit 32 resolves a heat conduction equation correspondingly to output of the setter 30 in order to forecast a longitudinal temperature distribution of the material at a succeeding rolling pass; the arithmetic unit 32 then operates a longitudinal variation of rolling reduction at the preceding pass required for eliminating the variation of rolling load at the succeeding pass to be caused by above forecasted longitudinal temperature distribution. A rolling condition controller 34, according to the output of arithmetic unit 32, controls a work roll driver 24 and a roll gap controller 26 so as to change the roll gap at the preceding pass correspondingly to longitudinal positions of the material to be rolled. Hereby, the rolling load at the succeeding pass is held constant along longitude and the sheet crown is also made uniform so that the rolling work is practiced obtaining a good shape.
