Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a colored glass with good gradated portions by a procedure in which an ink is once printed on a transfer paper and then the ink so printed is transferred and fixed to the surface of a glass through an adhesive layer, followed by heating.
CONSTITUTION: Using an intaglio roll 1 having the grooves 3W4 of a depth of 40μ and the grooves 4, 5 of a depth of 40W50μ, for example, the thickness of a colorant used is varied continuously in printing. For example, the ink 13 mixed with silver chloride and copper oxide is printed on the transfer paper 10 whose flexible base material 11 is coated with the water-soluble adhesive 12, e.g., dextrin, one-sidedly by means of the intaglio roll 1 and the pressing cylinder 9. Then, the ink-coated surface is coated with the resin 14, e.g., metyl metharylate, as a coating layer and then dried. Then, the transfer paper 10 is dipped in water to remove its paper base, and then the dextrin 12 surface is contacted with the glass 15 by pressing, dried, and then heated at 550°C for 10min in a furnace. Then, a colored glass with good shading-off portions can be obtained.
