Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled ornamental material rich in the feelings of solid body and of wood by a method wherein a wood grain pattern is printed on a base material, a luster-adjusted transparent overcoat layer is formed on the grain pattern, and a build-up printing is conducted on the regions corresponding to wintry subgrains of the grain pattern.
CONSTITUTION: A wood grain pattern print portion 3 is formed on a base material 1 by gravure, offset, offset gravure or the like printing method, and then a luster- adjusted transparent overcoat layer 4 is formed on the whole surface by coating method. On those regions of the overcoat layer 4 which correspond to the wintry subgrains of the grain pattern pring portion 3, a build-up printing is conducted by gravure printing through utilization of a gravure printing ink containing vinyl chloride sol as a binder, to form build-up ink films 5. By heating the ink film 5 by hot blast 9 for gelation of the ink and lustering the surfaces, lustrous build-up print portions are formed on the wintry subgrains and the titled ornamental material is obtained.
