Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the superficial discharge by coating an insulator layer on the surface of an electrode supporting structure constituted of a resistor except the portion for projecting electrodes on which low voltage or midle voltage is applied. CONSTITUTION:An electrode supporting structure 2 is comprised of a resistor 2a where the central portion is entirely coated with an insulative material layer 2b and insulators 2c, 2d located above and below said resistor 2a. The central portion of the resistor 2a is removed of the insulative material layer 2b along entire circumference of the supporting structure 2. Cathodes 3, 4, 5 and the first and second grids 6, 7 are projected from the insulator 2d while the sixth grid 11 is projected from the insulator 2c. The third and fifth grids 8, 10 are projected from the in sulative material layer 2b while the fourth grid 9 to be applied with low or midle voltage is projected from the resistor 2a. Consequently instable charge in the proximity of low or midle voltage electrode flows through the resistor 2b into the fourth grid to prevent the discharge.
