Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a prime mover from being excessively loaded and obtain the higher thrust of a propeller, by increasing the rigidity of a blade body of the propeller at its blade end part as compared with that in its blade root part.
CONSTITUTION: A blade body 4 of a propeller is formed in such a manner that the rigidity of a blade end part 4b is higher than that of a root part 4a. When the propeller is driven to generate its thrust, in accordance with intensity of the water pressure the root part 4a of low rigidity is twisted, and the blade end part 4b is rolled changing a certain angle so as to decrease a pitch or blade angle of the blade end part 4b. Accordingly when the water pressure is increased and acted upon the propeller at low ship speed with thrust, the pitch or blade angle of the propeller is decreased to avoid the overload applied to a prime mover.
