Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve sufficiently effective antioscillation effect for ships under high speed or low speed cruising conditions, by mounting a bilge keel which is at the rear of a stabilizer in such a way that the keel can be freely housed in a shell recess of a ship.
CONSTITUTION: A bilge keel located at the rear of a stabilizer is made as a movable bilge keel 1 which rotates around the axis of a bilge keel shaft 2. This movable bilge keel 1 is constituted to be freely housed in a housing recess 5 by rotation of a tilting lever 4 which is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder. The housing recess is a concave recess provided in a ship shell. When a fin stabilizer is used and a ship is cruising at a high speed in which the stabilizer exhibits antioscillation effect, the movable bilge keel 1 is housed in the recess 5, so that it will not interfere with the flow behind the stabilizer.
