Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to form a continuous plated layer with uniform thickness on a whole inner surface of rectangular pipe by forming a protruded portion at each corner of a rectangular hollow shaped anode used in plating an inner surface of a rectangular pipe to shorten a distance of the anode and corner portions of the rectangular pipe.
CONSTITUTION: An anode used in electroplating an inner surfac of a rectangular pipe is formed into a rectangular hollow shape and a protruded portion 1 is provided on each corner from an upper end to a lower end. This anode having a side portion 2 and a protruded portion 1 is formed from an insoluble material. In use, the anode is inserted and fixed in the rectangular pipe in such a condition that a leading end of the protruded portion 1 is approached to each corner portion of the rectangular pipe to be plated. Plural passing pores 3 are provided to a side surface 2 of the anode to promote the internal recirculation of a plating solution across the anode. By the use of this anode, a plating layer with a uniform thickness is applied even to corner portions of an inner surface of the rectangular pipe. Moreover, by fixing the protruded portion 1 of the anode in a freely advancing and retracting manner, the uniform plating effect can be enhanced by that much.
