Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a plated layer of chromium excellent in corrosion resistance and wear resistance on the surface of a material to be treated, by plating the surface of the material to be treated for a prescribed time with the penetrating holes closed, the holes which are made in the coaxial inside and outside cylinders constituting an anode, then by plating for a prescribed time with the holes opened.
CONSTITUTION: An inside cylinder 4a and an outside cylinder 4b are combined in such a way that penetrating holes 4c made in both cylinders are not connected. Then movable handles 8 are set on the upper end so that both cylinders may not slip while revolving. Electrolysis is conducted at a required plating temp. and current density while revolving the anode 4 at a prescribed revolution speed. At that time, the temp. of plating soln. 2 in the anode 4 rises with the progress of the electrolysis, hence the first Cr-plated layer excellent in corrosion resistance and of dense crystal structure is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the anode made of a material to be treated. Then electrolysis is conducted with the holes 4c of the cylinders 4a, 4b connected, so that the temp. in the anode falls to form the second Cr- plated layer of coarse crystal structure and of excellent wear resistance on the first Cr-plated layer.
