Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to maintain invariably superior cleaning operation while miniaturizing a unit, by employing porous structure, using a conductive material, for the internal cylinder surface of a cleaning brush and then by sucking toner from the inside by applying a potential of the opposite polarity to residual toner. CONSTITUTION:Toner suction mechanisms 3, fitted in both end parts 5a of cleaning brush 5, are connected to the blower that sucks air in the cylinder. Center part 5b of brush 5 is made of conductive fiber and inside of it, cylinder 5c of conductive fiber and electrode 5d further inside of it are arranged. Cylinder 5b is applied with a potential of the opposite polarity to a toner potential, and consequently cylinder 5c is held at a high potential. Consequently, the toner is sucked and discharged into cylinder 5b by the air flow and electrostatic force of brush 5. Part of the toner reaches electrode 5d, but does not stick to electrode 5d because of an AC voltage and flies in cylinder 5c and suctionally discharged, so that the miniature cleaning brush of good cleaning performance can be obtained.
