Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a composite material having excellent water-vapor resistance and heat resistance, by a method wherein a styrene-functional silane coupling agent is used when an inorg. filler or a reinforcing agent is mixed with a sepecified resin compsn. to produce the composite material.
CONSTITUTION: A composite material is produced by mixing an inorg. filler or a reinforcing agent (B) with a resin compsn. (A) composed of a mixt. of at least two components selected from the following (a), (b) and (c) components, or reaction mixture between the following two or three components; said (a) component being a polyfunctional cyanic acid ester, a prepolymer thereof or a prepolymer devived from said ester and an amine; siad (b) component being a polyfunctional maleimide, a prepolymer thereof or a prepolymer derived from said imide and an amine; and said (c) component being an epoxy cpd. In the production of the above composite material, a styrene-functional silane coupling agent of the formula (wherein R1, R2 are methyl, ethyl; R3 is bivalent org. gp; n is 0, 1) is mixed with the compsn. (A). Alternatively, the filler or the reinforcing agent (B) is treated with said coupling agent, and then used.
