Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise adhesion between the surface of coated paper and a photographic emulsion layer, and to eliminate unevenness in coating an emulsion, by providing a continuous layer of water or an organic solvent having a specific conductivity not less than a specified value on the surface of polyolefine coated paper treated by corona discharge. CONSTITUTION:The residual charge of polyolefine coated paper treated by corona discharge, such as a water resistant photographic paper is removed by attaching water, such as tap water or distilled water, or an organic solvent, such as methanol or ethanol having >=10<-17>OMEGA<-1>.cm<-1> specific conductivity at 18 deg.C to the olefin face by a spraying or coating method, and forming a uniform continuous layer with a blade or the like. The obtained coated paper in a dried or not dried state is coated with an emuslion layer, thus permitting a water resistant photographic paper quite free of uneven coating to be prepared, and the residual charge to be removed more simply and more perfectly at a lower equipment cost than the conventional charge neutralization method. An electrostatic pattern appears when an electrostatic toner is attached to the untreated paper, but such a pattern does not appear on said treated paper.
