Abstract
PURPOSE: To surely and readily separate sheet defective materials with the simple device which does not require precision controlling by separating the sheet defective portions at the initial period of production at the unfrozen portions thereof in the process for production of the sheet by pouring molten metal onto the surface of a rotating durm from a nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal 14 in a furnace 11 is injected onto the surface of a drum 20 from an injection nozzle 16 by the in-furnace pressure and is cooled and frozen there to be made into a sheet 22. At this time, thickness accuracy and material characteristics are controlled, but defect materials are produced at the initial period of tapping. Because of this, the sheet 22 which is carried in close contact with the surface of the drum after the tapping is stripped from the drum by the compressed gas injected toward the drum from the nozzle 62 on the surface of the guide 61 and is passed between the guides 63 and 61. In addition, pinch rollers 64, 65 are revolved at the peripheral speed v' faster than the peripheral speed v of the drum 20 to pull out the sheet 22. As a result of this, the defect portions are cut off at the unfrozen portions of the sheet and are led into the scrap box 60 disposed off the line. The normal material after the separation of the defective material is guided along the drum surface.
