Abstract
PURPOSE: To accurately grasp the distribution conditions of the lubricant films, etc. on an ingot and the factors for causing cracks and flaws by providing a receiver in the travelling path of the ingot right under the mold of a continuous casting apparatus and receiving the deposits on the surface of the ingot removed by scraping means into the above-described receiver.
CONSTITUTION: A receiving pallet 2 which receives films of lubricant 7 scraped off from the surface 8 of an ingot is provided to the travelling path of the ingot right under the mold 4 of a continuous casting apparatus. The pallet 2 is provided with a device 6 for moving forward and backward. A liquid injection nozzle 5 is disposed for scraping off the lubricant films 7, etc. of the ingot surface 8 and the lubricant films 7 scraped in an arbitrary time are received in the pallet 2 provided below the nozzles. In this way, the sampling of the lubricant films 7 etc. is surely accomplished and the quantity distribution of the above-mentioned films 7, etc. on the ingot width direction can be known accurately, thus the casting conditions is controlled optimally.
