Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent insufficient post-ripening and degradation of the quality of vegetables and fruits caused by the introduction of gas at low temprature, by introducing post-ripening acceleration gas into a post-ripening chamber when the temperature of the chamber or of the material to be treated becomes a preset value.
CONSTITUTION: In a post-ripening acceleration gas supplying apparatus 15, a bomb 14 is connected with two magnetic valves V1 and V2 through a reducing valve 16. The opening and the closing of the valves V1 and V2 are controlled by a control circuit 17. The circuit 17 is furnished with a digital switch 21 which opens the valve V1 and supplies a large amount of gas through a flow control valve 20 to the chamber for a time T1, and the other digital switch 24 which opens the valve V2 and supplies the gas through a flow control valve 23 stationarily at a low rate for a time T2. The circuit 17 is also connected with a temprature sensor 18 which detects the temprature of the chamber and starts the control circuit 17. When the temperature of the post-ripening chamber becomes the set value, the control circuit starts automatically to introduce a large amount of the gas into the chamber at the initial stage, and then changes the operation to the stationary state with low rate of gas flow.
