Abstract

PURPOSE:To connect a wire to a lead, by inserting a jig in between the lead and a header, applying a part of the jig to thrust the lead at a point and using another jig to thrust the lead at another point. CONSTITUTION:A part 13 of a lead 12 is bent like a step. A through hole 14 is provided in the center of the part 13. A central lead is calked on a header 2. Two other leads are floated. A semiconductor pellet is attached to the header. A jig 16 is inserted in between the header 2 and the tip 15 of the lead. The conical projection 17 of the jig is pushed into the hole 14 of the lead 12 to thrust the lead. An edge of the lead is thrusted by another jig 18. An Al wire 5 is coupled between the pellet and the clamped lead 12 by ultrasonic vibration. The jigs are retracted. A prescribed portion is sealed up with resin. A coupled portion is cut off to obtain individual devices. Since the width of the through hole 14 is set sufficiently large and the lead is thrusted at two points by the jigs to secure the lead, the wire connection can be automated.
