Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to light electric-discharge lamps by a same discharge-commencing potential and equalize the quality of the lamps electrodes until just before the gas is charged, adjusting under the same conditions the gas pressure to be charged, detecting the initiation of a discharge, and determining the pressure of gas to be charged. CONSTITUTION:A power source 6 is connected with main electrodes 2, 2 through an adequate load resistance 5, and a fixed voltage is applied. An exhaust pipe 4 is connected airtightly with a supply passage 8 of a charging gas, and this supply passage 8 is connected with a source of supply of a rare gas for starting such as argon and so on, for example, a bomb 9. On the other hand, a radiation detector such as a phototransistor 11 or the like is arranged near a luminous tube 1, and connected with an electromagnetic valve 10 electrically through an amplifier 12. The electromagnetic valve 10 is opened when the transistor 11 receives the radiation of the luminous tube 1, and is shut when the radiation stops. Accordingly, the discharge-commencing potential becomes always the same, and the quality can be equalized.
