Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert the heat of a water cooling zone to electricity to recycle the heat and improve environments by leading the steam and air of high temperatures from the water cooling zone of a continuously cast ingot to a heat exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: The molten steel 2 poured from a tundish 1 into a mold 3 is cooled with sprays 6 while it is being drawn by roller groups 6. At this time, the water contacting the ingot 4 of high temepratures becomes steam instantaneously, and partly becomes hot air. The condensed water is then discharged from the underside of a heat-insulating hood 8 into a pit 9. ON the other hand, the mixed fluid of steam and air of high tempratures is discharged from the top of the heat-insulating hood 8 by a blower 10 and is led into a heat exchanger 12 via a conduit 11. The sensible heat of the steam and the heat of the air are transferred to the 2nd medium 13 to condense the steam to water; at the same time, the medium 13 evaporates to a high pressure and the vapor is sent into a turbine 14 so that it is converted to electric energy by a generator 15.
