Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep the balance of force applied to a port block without using a large-scale thrust bearing by providing a mechanical seal on the end surface of the port block.
CONSTITUTION: The strong thrust force acting on a cylinder block 4 is given to a port block 12 through the intermediary of a valve plate 5 with the piston motion and the like for obtaining the high-pressure working oil. So as to receive the component of the force in the axial direction, a high-pressure passage 16 is formed along the axis of the port block 12 and also a mechanical seal 19 is provided in the central part of the end surface of the port block 12 located in the outer-periopheral part of the passage 16 to seal up an aperture for sliding between the block and a lateral housing B, and the high-pressure oil is introduced therein. By the device, the force in the axial direction acting on the port block 12 can be received by the counter- force given to the end surface by the high-pressure oil thus sealed, without using a large-scale thrust bearing.
