Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit the parts of a motor cycle engine in which crank and transmission shafts are placed horizontally to be readily assorted according to the destination by making the chain drive system and the shaft drive system interchangeable of shipping with no alteration on the power unit case. CONSTITUTION:A power unit case 1 has a crank case unit 2 and a transmission case unit 3 formed unitary with the rear part of the crank case unit 2, and a shaft enclosing unt 14 is formed unitary with the rear part of the transmission case unit 3. Provided on one side of the shaft enclosing unt 14 is an opening 15, to which the first sub-case 25 is detachably attached to hold an output shaft 22 of a chain drive unit 21, or the second sub-case 38 is detachably attached to hold a driving shaft 24 of a shaft drive unit 23 as well as to contain bevel gear trains 39 and 40 and the like. This permits the power transmission system to be independently interchanged according to the destination of shipping.
