Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate installation by improving reliability while widening spacing permissive range, by using an element, obtained by arranging magnetic substances of high magnetic permeability closely to magnetic resistance (MR) elements for detecting the magnetic field of a magnetic memory medium on which a magnetic signal has equal interval pitch length.
CONSTITUTION: So as to sense a component (X component) in parallel to the film surface of an MR element in signal magnetic field 4 in magnetism 2 of recording medium 3 on which a magnetic signal has equal interval pitch length (p), MR elements 11 and 12 are arranged in parallel to medium 3 with fixed spacing D. The 1st MR element 11 in a strip shape of width W1 and the 2nd MR element 12 in a strip shape of width W1 with high-magnetic-permeability magnetic substance 13 of width W2 positioned at both sides or one side of the 1st MR element with gap G are arranged on substrate 16 at interval np(n≥1) (n) times as long as magnetic signal pitch length (p) so that their length directions will be in parallel. Elements 11 and 12 are connected in series at terminals 15 and further connected to electric power source 17 and output terminal 18 at terminals 14. Thus, magnetic field detector 10 is manufactured. In this way, an excellent reproduction output can be obtained over signal magnetic-field intensity range wider than the conventional range.
