Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease a gap between adjacent tracks and to obtain multi-track of high density, by using a magneto-resistance effect head constituted as a magnetic substance leading a bias magnetic field near a ferromagnetic thin film and a signal pickup conductor are laminated via an insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic substance 11 is formed on a base 2 backward from a medium opposing plane A. An insulating layer 15 is formed on the upper plane of the magnetic substance 11 as shown in Figure. That is, the insulating layer 15 is in contact with the upper plane of the base 2 at the plane A side and contacts the magnetic substance 11 at a part backward from the plane A. A ferromagnetic thin film 6 is formed on the plane A of the insulating layer 15. Signal pickup conductors 7 and 7 are formed at both ends of the ferromagnetic substance thin film 6. The insulating layer 15 is inserted between the conductors 7, 7 and the magnetic substance 11. The interval between the signal pickup conductors 7 and 7 is independent of the width of the magnetic substance 11. Thus, even if the width of the magnetic substance 11 is widened to obtain a uniform bias magnetic field, the widening of the conductor interval is not required and a multi-track head with high density can be obtained.
