Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the ash contant in sample accurately and rapidly by interposing the measuring sample between an X-ray generating source and an X-ray detector and processing the output of the X-ray detector. CONSTITUTION:The X-rays 2 from an X-ray generating source 1 transmit through the measuring sample 2 such as paper and reach an X-ray detector 4, by which they are converted to an electric signal proportional to the X-ray intensity detected. This signal is converted to a logarithmic value by a logarithmic amplifier 5. The weighed value is multiplied by a certain fixed value with a weight setter 6 and is subtracted with a subtractor 7. The output from the subtractor 7 is amplified in an output amplifier 8 and the results of the ash content measurement are displayed with a meter 10. Depending upon the kinds of the ash content, an amplification factor controlling potentiometer 9 is adjusted to adjust the amplification factor of the amplifier 8.
