Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a container for cosmetics having whitish appearance with depth, corrosion resistance, and discoloration resistance, by coating the surface of a container for a lipstick, or a compact with Sn-Cu alloy film of a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a material 1 for a cosmetics container is formed a lustrous Ni-plating layer 2 as a ground layer. Then an Sn-Cu alloy plating film 3 consisting of 60-90% Sn, 40-10% Cu is formed on the surface of the layer 2 by use of a cyan bath, 0.01-1mum, preferably 0.03-0.5mum in thickness. This method permits to develop a tint similar to, and comparable with, that of whitish plating film of noble metal such as Rh, thereby producing plating film better than Ag or Rh plating in artificial sweat test and salt-soln.-dipping test, having excellent corrosion resistance, discoloration resistance and high hardness.
