Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the rolling work possible to obtain the product with the uniform thickness in the direction of the breadth and the good apparance, by installing two backup rolls being provided with the crowning part on mutually opposite sides, in at least one of a pair of the work rolls, and by making those backup rolls axially shiftable. CONSTITUTION:The backup roll 7 is installed for one of work rolls 2, 3, biting the strip 1; two backup rolls 6A, 6B, are installed for at least one of work rolls 2, 3, in front of and behind this work roll in the rolling direction; the crowing parts 6A', 6B', are formed in these two backup rolls 6A, 6B, at their axial ends mutually on the opposite sides; and besides, these backup rolls 6A, 6B are made axially shiftable; the rolling mill is thus constituted. It is also possible to install above stated backup rolls respectively two on every side and to make these four backup rolls axially shiftable. By this rolling mill, the strip with uniform thickness in the direction of the breadth and the good appearance can be manufactured.
