Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a tapered bar possessing a round section, by adjusting the roll gap of each couple of the first and the second rolls, whose outer circumferences are provided with circumferential grooves of circular arc section of a specified curvature and axes of rotation are respectively parallel, in relation to the traveling distance of the rolled blank material. CONSTITUTION:A blank material introduced along the pathway (a) is first rolled from upside and underside by a couple of rolls 10, whose axes of rotation are parallel and outer circumferences are provided with circumferential grooves of a circular arc section of a specified curvature. At the same time, the blank material is pressed sideways by a couple of rolls 11 whose axes of rotation are parallel in a plane parallel to the plane including both axes of rotation of rolls 10 and outer circumferences are provided with a circumferential groove of a circular arc section of a specified curvature. Besides, the roll gap of each couple of rolls 10, 11, is respectively adjusted in relation to the traveling distance of the blank material; therefore, the blank material is preliminarily rolled into a tapered shape of approximately round section. Next, this tapered material is rolled by similarly constituted rolls 12, 13, and its roundness is further improved.
