Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat-curable and heat-resistant insulating coil adapted for energy saving and resource saving, by impregnating and hardening a coil, wound with an insulating base material thereon, with a resin composition containing specific amounts of an epoxy resin and an aluminum compound as a hardening catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An insulating base material such as polyester film or glass woven fabric is wound on a coil, and the coil is impregnated and hardened with a resin composition containing, as indespensable ingredient, an epoxy resin and 0.0001- 5wt% of an aluminum compound represented by the general formula I such as aluminum trisacetylacetonate as a hardening catalyst. The epoxy resin composition thus containing a small amount of the aluminum compound has a long storage life at room temperature without necessity of cooling, and there can be obtained an electrically insulated coil which is thermosetting and excellent in heat resistance, by impregnating the insulating base material with said resin composition.
