Abstract

PURPOSE:To give the driver a natural feel of steering by varying the ignition timing in response to the degree of engine knockings during normal driving whereas controlling the ignition timing at start and idle, or when battery voltage drops, according to a predetermined ignition advance program. CONSTITUTION:Pulses from a knock sensor 30, of which magnitude is proportional to the degree of knockings, are applied to a CPU12 via an input/output interface 20. The CPU12, throughout the entire normal riding, computes corrective figures and corrects the ignition timing. After correction, the CPU12 advances the ignition timing in steps, keeping the amount of correction to the minimum. It regurates the ignition timing according to a predetermined program at start or idle, or when battery voltage is low.
