Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the resistance of an adsorbent to chemicals and to improve the selective adsorbing performance of the adsorbent for phosphoric acid ions, by curing a mixture of TiO2, ZrO2, etc. and their hydrates with a specified quantity of epoxy resin, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The adsorbent described in the titled is made by mixing titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, or tin oxide and their hydrates (TiO2.nH2O, etc.) or a mixture of these substances, with 1/5W3 times epoxy resin (derived from tetraglycidyl ether etc.), unsaturated polyester resin, or polyurethane resin, then by curing the mixture by keeping at a prescribed temp. for a prescribed time, then by cutting into prescribed shape. The adsorbent is excellent in selective adsorbing performance for phosphoric acid ions, and in resistance to chemicals such as alkali etc., and is suitable for removing phosphoric acid which is a causal substance for the eutrophication in closed water area. It may be used repeatedly for a long time.
