Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the uranium adsorber with high strength, as the uranium adsorbing material, a fiber having an amido oxime group is subjected to alkali treatment to be formed into a flocculent form and, after this treatment, the flocculent fiber is coated with a net like material of a synthetic fiber.
CONSTITUTION: As the adsorbing material adsorbing and sampling uranium from a dilute uranium solution such as sea water or the like, a fiber having an amido oxime group obtained by reacting a fiber having a cyano group with hydroxylamine is subjected to alkali treatment using potassium hydroxide or the like to be formed into an uranium adsorptive flocculent fiber 1 and, after this treatment, said flocculent fiber is coated with a net like material comprising a synthetic fiber such as a polyvinyl chloride fiber or the like. By this method, the uranium adsorbing material having strength which is not cut even if immersed in ocean or the like for a long time is obtained.
