Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain satisfactorily welded parts with enhanced mechanical strength by, when an electrode-plate lug and a shelf are welded together with a large current to form an assembled element, activating the facing surfaces of the lug and shelf before welding those surfaces by either a preheat current or ultrasonic vibration. CONSTITUTION:An electrode-plate lug 9 which is a part of an electrode plate 6 and a shelf 4 with a cell post 3 are welded together to form an assembled element. Here, in welding, the facing surfaces of the contact between the electrode-plate lug 9 and the shelf 4 are activated by pressing them from both sides with the help of small plates 12 and 13, which are used both for pressing and for current transmitting, while a preheat current is treasmitted with the help of a welding equipment 14 equipped with a preheat power-source. After that, a large current for welding is transmitted to weld the lug 9 and the shelf 4. It is preferred to provide the facing surfaces of the contact between the lug 9 and the shelf 4 with concave or convex parts. In addition, ultrasonic vibration may be used in place of a preheat current for activating the facing surfaces.
