Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform easy, exact, and isolated enclosure of welds by the procedure in which the bottom of four-metal current collector plates is formed in an externally expanded shape in advance and then it is welded to current collecting bar in the flat state. CONSTITUTION:The bottom 82 of the four-metal current collecting plates 8 is formed in an externally expanded shape in advance, and then the bottom 82 is welded electrically to the inner end 21 of the current collecting bar 2 in the flat state after changing the expanded shape into flat shape. Thus, the opening end 81 of the current collecting plate 8 is pressed on the packing 4 circularly by the elastic restoring force of the bottom 82 and thereby the electrically welded portion 9 between the current collecting plate 8 and the current collecting bar 2 is enclosed isolatedly from the power generation element 7. Exact and isolated enclosure of electrically welded portion can easily be performed with an elastic and compressive force enough not to press on effective power generation space inside cell without the necessity for enlarging current collecting plate.
