Abstract

738,985. Batteries. CALDWELL HEATERS (SALES), Ltd. Feb. 5, 1954 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 27865/52. Class 53. To keep a battery at an even temperature it is enclosed in a receptacle having double walls the space between the walls being evacuated. Fig. 1 shows a battery 1 enclosed in a receptacle consisting of a hollow base 2 and a detachable portion 3 which is sealed to the base by a gasket 4 and has double walls 3<1>, 32. Connectors 8, 9 may be provided for connection to a pump. The parts are held together by plates 6, 7 and tie-rods 5<1>. In a modification, Fig. 2, the battery container is formed with double walls 12, 13 separated by ribs 14. Gas vents V from the various cells pass through the two walls.
