Abstract

598,415. Accumulators. CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE CO., Ltd., and GRAY, R. Sept. 3, 1945, No. 22587. [Class 53] An accumulator plate consisting of slotted tubes e enclosing the active material and spines connected to top and bottom bars a is arranged with the unslotted portions g of the tubes lying in the central plane of the plate. The unslotted portions of the tubes are thickened to form ribs. As shown in plan in Fig. 3, the tubes may be rectangular and the unslotted portions g are thickened to form ribs inside and outside the tubes. The outer surfaces of the plates may be covered with glass wool and separators of glass wool, microporous rubber or plastic material backed by wood separators may be placed between adjacent plates. According to the Provisional Specification, the unslotted portions of the tubes need not be thickened to form ribs.
