Abstract

576,324. Galvanic batteries. CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE CO., Ltd. (Murphy, R. F.). Aug. 11, 1944, No. 15370. [Class 53] The positive electrode of a storage battery comprises a number of slotted tubular containers 13 enclosing conducting rods 11 surrounded by active material 12. The containers 13 are provided with longitudinal ribs 15 which abut against diaphragm separators 16 placed against the negative electrodes 17. In order to prevent the separators from curling under the ribs 15, the lower ends of the rods 11 are connected by an insulating bar 18 which is provided with ribs or projections 21, as shown in Fig 3. These projections are in alignment with and form a continuation of the ribs 15 and extend to the lower ends of the separators and the positive plate.
